'Social climbers' in Britain?

Anytime you have a large impoverished upper class (who are saddled with astronomical debts because of their title and familial responsibilities) and an increasingly wealthy middle class, you will begin to see a blurring of the rules of class. This has been happening for centuries, but the last 2 decades has seen a rapid acceleration of this in Britain.
