Who in European history do you admire?

I admire the first northern Spanish king Don Pelayo(He was a northern Spanish nobleman of royal lineage)for his fierce determination in his lifelong battle in defending northern Spain from the foreign Moor & Jew invaders.On his tombstone reads"Here lies the holy King Don Pelayo,elected in the year 716 who in this miraculous cave began the restoration of Spain...."
