What happened to the Lineage 2 servers?

I used to play Lineage 2 about 4 years ago. I had characters on Bartz server and I remember there were about 7 servers all together. I just started playing again on a different account and realized that Bartz no longer exists. Now there are just 2 servers, Chronos and Naia. What happened to the other servers? And a question to go with that one, where did my characters go if they deleted Bartz?
